The ROV MAKER team was invited to the National Tainan Senior Marine Fishery Vocational School on 2022/04/11 to share the experience of ROV implementation.
In the course arrangement, the first part introduces the properties of water and compares it with air. The two different medium properties of water and air also make the design of ROV quite different from drones.
The second part of the course is mainly about the introduction of ROV DIY. This includes ROV-DIY cases, introduction ROV competitions, Taiwanese school clubs focusing on ROV/AUV developmentand and famous DIY kit manufacturers . It hopes that the information in this part can be used as a reference for interested people to find more information about the ROV easily on the Internet.
The second half of the course enters the most important part, the sharing of ROV development practices. This is a relatively difficult information to search on the Internet, and generally commercial underwater robot companies rarely share such information. The ROV MAKER team specially introduced the development process of Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, and let the participating students review the development process of these two underwater robots with us.
The practical sharing is divided into topics such as hardware, software, mechanism, and underwater thruster. In these topics, in addition to sharing the design principles and implementation problems of Voyager II, ROV MAKER also shared other well-known open source solutions for comparison. These open source solutions are one of the great design options to make students for reference.
After the course is the ROV operation. The ROV MAKER team provides a Voyager II for students to experience the actual operation!!
After the class, the ROV MAKER team introduced new PVC ROV kit. This is an upcoming plan, which is waterproof and expandable, suitable for the school’s upcoming project !!
